Stop the FDA Globalization Act of 2008!!
This new blog was created to share stories of people who will be personally affected if the FDA Globalization Act of 2008 is passed into law. Check out this video to learn more.
Last week, I spoke at length with an Indie Business owne and member of the Indie Beauty Network named Lorrie — the name I’ll use to protect her identity.
Lorrie lives in Florida, which has cosmetics laws that are more restrictive than those now in place at the federal level. Lorrie has worked at a job for many years and finally advanced to be considered for the position of assistant vice president. Unfortunately, she was told she was not “AVP material.”
Lorrie started straight into the face of the glass ceiling, but rather than complain about it, she decided to look into launching a new cosmetics company.
In conductng her research, she discovered Florida’s burdensom laws, requiring registration and reporting. She also discovered that the Florida cosmetics law prohibited her from operating a cosmetics business of any kind — even if she’s just making soap — in her home.
Lorrie is a perfect example of a would be small business owner who will be forced to stay in a job that has no advancement opportunities. Lorrie is discouraged, but we are not going to stand idly by and force laws like those in Florida on men, women and families across the entire nation.
